This beautiful finca is located in Rute a villaje of Córdoba, near the river Anzur, in the Subbética Cordobesa area, 7.5 km from Rute, 23 km from Lucena and 96 km from Málaga.
It is set in gently undulating terrain with deep clay soils. Some holm oaks survive in the highlands and in the streams, riverside vegetation, a refuge for various species of small game, which also allows for a hunting reserve. Its location offers extraordinary views of the Sierra de Rute, which gives it great scenic value.
The whole estate has a total area of 43.43 ha, of which 41.77 ha are traditional olive groves. The rest, 1.65 ha (16,514 m²) corresponds to the cortijo, arenas and orchard.
THE OLIVE TREES
There are 3,000 olive trees planted with the hojiblanca variety, native to Andalusia, which has the remarkable characteristic of being very well adapted to drought and high temperatures. The olive trees are mostly of 3 or 4 feet with a traditional plantation framework, arranged in four plots.
The property has a spring with a permanent flow of drinking water, sufficient to supply domestic needs and the orchard. There are also two wells, one of which is ready for use.
THE CORTIJO
The architectural ensemble is representative of the large olive farms of the Subbética Cordobesa and for this reason the farmhouse is listed in the inventory of ‘Cortijos, Lagares y Haciendas’ of the province of Cordoba.
It has a floor area of 666 m² and dates from 1847, with several subsequent alterations, and has two distinct areas.
The first, corresponding to the manor house, is for residential use; it is arranged over three floors around a courtyard open to the gardens and the recreational area with swimming pool. Next to the swimming pool there is a horse riding arena and a vegetable garden irrigated by the irrigation ditch that channels water from the spring.
The ground floor was originally used to house the staff and kitchen of the owner’s family. Nowadays it maintains part of this use, having been fitted out as a living room (country kitchen) and the old kitchen as a kitchen-dining room.
On the first floor there are six bedrooms, a bathroom, an ironing room, a large living room with an oratory and a dining room.
The third floor is a loft without compartments.
There is an outdoor space with an agricultural function, the oil mill – now dismantled – which was one of the most important in the area at the beginning of the 20th century (as indicated in the Inventory mentioned above). This part is currently used as an agricultural building, garage, corral, stable and tack room.
The pomace factory, which complemented the oil mill, occupies another part of the large ‘patio del molino’ together with the stables, corrals and sheds.
